The Des Plaines River Racers is proud to educate our members on Doping Control measures as established from USA Swimming.
All competing athletes at USA Swimming competitions are subject to drug testing conducted by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and FINA under the In-Competition Testing program.
ATHLETES SHOULD CHECK THE STATUS OF ALL MEDICATIONS (OVER THE COUNTER and PRESCRIPTION) AND SUBSTANCES PRIOR TO CONSUMPTION TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE NOT CONSUMING A PROHIBITED SUBSTANCE.

USADA Drug Reference Line:
*This line should be utilized any time you consider taking a medication or substance. The list of potential medications and substances is far too extensive to include in full in the Guide to Prohibited Substances. Therefore, it is critical that you call the Drug Reference Line to determine the status of the substance you are planning to consume. See the "medications requiring an Abbreviated TUE" section for more information.
Doping Control is an important area in the sport of swimming. Doping Control rules are in place for all athletes; individuals attending major competitions are subject to drug testing regardless of whether or not they are a National Team member, an Olympian, or a first place finisher. Doping Control rules can be confusing for athletes, coaches and parents and it is critical that any questions/concerns be clarified; costly mistakes can be made that not only count against the athlete, but count against all of USA Swimming. You can click on each of the prompts below to learn more about each section via the USA Swimming homepage.
