Welcome to the 2012 ISI Speedo Winter Regional Championship Meet hosted by Glenbrook Aquatics. Glenbrook North High School offers your athletes First Class facilities including an extremely FAST competition pool that will serve as the prime location for this Championship Event. We look forward to doing the best we possibly can to ensure every athlete has the opportunity to succeed.
Here is some pertinent information for this Regional Championship. I know we all receive meet info emails on a regular basis, but please take the time to read this email fully. It may answer some questions, and will certainly help us all to be on the same page.

1. Coach's Meetings - we plan to have a Coach's Meeting on Friday night at 5:40 PM and another on Saturday morning at 8:10 AM. Please make sure every team in attendance is represented at each meeting. We won't plan to hold another Coach's Meeting unless it becomes necessary.
2. Scratches - Can be done on the check-in sheets, or in advance with the Meet Entry Chair.
3. Timelines - I've attached a current timeline to this email. Friday night is pretty long before scratches. The morning sessions are fine. Sunday afternoon withthe 1650's is quite long, but we will combine as much as possible.
4. Warm Up/Down Pool - There is a 6-lane warm up/down pool that will be open for the duration of the meet. We will have a monitor on this pool throughout. We encourage the athletes to take advantage of this facility, but anyone just "playing around" will be asked to exit the pool and lose that privelage.
5. Gyms - We prefer that most athletes stay on deck in the Small pool area. There will be bleachers on deck near the warm up/down pool. The area around the competition pool is needed for coaches. Please do not have your athletes keep their belongings around the competition pool. There is a gym available which will have hopefully have TV's (one which may be streaming the meet for athletes/parents to follow the events). However, being "in the gym" will NOT be an excuse for missed events.
6. Missed Events - If an athlete misses an event, they are automatically removed from their next entered event.
7. Awards - We will using the starting blocks as the Awards Stand. Awards breaks are scheduled thoughout each session. We will try to honor the winning athletes but need to do so in an expediant manner to keep the meet moving along. Please help make sure any athlete finishing in the Top 8 of an event gets behind the block to receive their award in a timely manner. We will not wait for no-show athletes. Coach's of the athlete winning each event, please go to the awards area ASAP to pass out the awards for that event. We will not wait for no-show coaches to hand out awards.
8. Proof-of-Times - I don't expect this situation to arise with the vast majority of times will be pre-proven through the SWIMS database. However, in the event that someone falls short of the Regional qualifying time in an event and it is not in SWIMS, that athlete/coach is responsible for proving that time to the Adminstrative Judge (AJ) BEFORE they may compete in their next event. Further, should the entry time not be able to be proven, the $150 fine (ISI Championship Meet Rules & Regs) must be paid before that athlete will be allowed to swim in their next event.
9. 1650 Check-in - The 1650 will show up on the standard check-in sheet at the start of the session. However, we plan to go around with a Second 1650 Check-in sheet sometime during the Sunday afternoon session. We just want to make sure all lanes are filled and we don't run unnecessary heats.
10. Meet Juries - will be announced at the Coach's Meetings.
11. Payments - should have been paid to Illinois Swimming in advance. Should anyone have outstanding balances or owe for late entries, they are due prior to the start of the meet. Please make any late entry payments to "Glenbrook District 225".
12. Late Entries - will be accepted following the ISI Championship rules until 24 hours prior to the start of the meet. After 5:30 PM on Thursday, February 23, no further entries will be accepted. Late entries cost triple ($15) the original entry fee.
13. Timers - we appreciate teams helping with timing throughout the weekend. I've attached a Timer Assignment List to this email. We've tried to spread the assignments around as fairly as possible. To keep the meet moving proficiently, please have your timers scheduled for the entire session to which they are requested. There will be Timer's Meetings 30 minutes prior to the start of each session. The location of each meeting will be announced.
14. Parking - this was quite an issue last year, especially after we got hit with a snowstorm, which could happen again. We had people parking 3 cars to a row, thus blocking in the middle car. It was unreal. What we ask is really simple, please remind your families to park in "lined spaces only"! Anyone parking outside of a lined space will be towed. We will have cones lining off a drop-off area. People often want to park right up by the door. There are actually very few spaces there and anyone not in a space will be towed. If people use common sense, we should have minimal issues.
