Registration Policies

Enrollment Information
The Des Plaines River Racers is a developmental and competitive swim program located in Des Plaines, IL. It services a majority of the School District 207 attendance area including Park Ridge, Des Plaines, Niles, Rosemont, Mt. Prospect, Prospect Heights. Enrollment is not restrictive to these areas. 

Registration Dates 
Registration is on-going. Dates for specific seasons are listed on the seasonal information located on our website. 

Errors & Omissions
While we attempt to keep our information up-to-date, it is possible that certain information contained on printed material, email communication, and our website may contain errors.  We apologize in advance for inconveniences that these errors may cause you. 

Statement of Fees
The Des Plaines River Racers are operated by parent company Des Plaines Swimming, a not-for-profit organization, which is approved by the State of Illinois.  The goals of operating the club are to operate for the beneift of its membership as a not-for-profit organization.  Fees charged to participants are made to cover the basic operating costs not covered by other revenue generating sources.  These costs include coach salaries, facility costs, team operations, equipment, administrative costs, and other costs associated with the operation of a team.   All revenues generated go toward the operation of the club.  A detailed listing of our annual budget can be found in our Board of Directors section of the website.

Membership Requirements
The River Racers Swim Team is a member of United States Swimming (USS/USA Swimming).  USA Swimming requires all athlete and non-athlete participants to be members of USA Swimming.  Each participant will be required to pay $60 annual membership for USA Swimming/Illinois Swimming Inc. (ISI) Membership. This will provide swimmers and the club with club supplimental insurance in some cases. If you are unsure of your membership status, contact the Head Coach. Through affiliation with USA Swimming, Des Plaines Swimming receives insurance coverage and may participate in USA Swimming sanctioned events when all athletes and members are registered. The yearly membership fee is payable at the time of fall registration (or new register whichever comes first). Membership runs from September 1 through December 31 of the following year. Illinois Swimming Transfer Information
Those who are current members of USA/ISI but are registered with another team will need to have their membership transferred to the River Racers Club. A transfer fee of $10 is to be paid directly to ISI. If a swimmer transfer from another team, not only must they transfer their active membership, they must wait 120 days (four months) after their final swim meet with their old team before they can swim in a sanctioned meet as a member of the River Racers . All paperwork should be handled through the ISI Office.

Registration Format
Registration is accepted in paper form but is also available electronically.  This is the preferred method of registration.  All information collected online is stored securely on the servers of Des Plaines Swimming as well as space dedicated to Des Plaines Swimming by Google. 

Waivers & Signatures
All participants must have filled out our registration form which outlines general liabilities and hold-harmless statements.  Signatures on these statements are considred original by Des Plaines Swimming.  Additionally, approval on our online registration form shows your agreement to the policies of Des Plaines Swimming and of holds-harmless statements.   This also includes our Digital Media Policy, Privacy Policy, and all other policies outlined in our Team Policy and Procedure Manual. 

Payment Information
Payment is required for participation in Des Plaines Swimming programs.  All payment should be completed prior to the first day of attendance.  Payment plans are available upon request.  Des Plaines Swimming reserves the right to change a payment fee in order to reflect the correct fee.  If program fees differ between your original fee, you will be required to pay the balance created.  If you are enrolled in the program with the lower fee, we will refund the difference.  A $25 service charge is assessed on all checks returned due to insufficient funds.

Refund Procedures
It is our desire that your satisfaction be guaranteed. If you choose to not continue with our program, participants will receive a full refund if they are dissatisfied with the program after the 1st week of the program. Swimmers are only permitted to drop with a full refund within the first week of the season. Prorated refunds may be offered, but are based on the number of practices attended, time in the season. Prorated refunds will only be considered only after an approval from the Board of Directors.

Des Plaines Swimming works with a variety of individuals and agencies to ensure that our programs and services are available and accessible to all persons, regardless of age, gender, religion, race, socio–economic status and level of physical or mental ability.  If a participant may need special accomodations, please contact our Head Coach so that accommodations can be set up.
