Welcome to the Des Plaines River Racers Swim Team. This page contains most all of our reigstration information so you can begin exploring our programs. Our popular programs are divided to further serve the best interest of our athletes. Placements are based on recommendations from each coach and  athlete success.  We take pride in having our athletes placed in skill appropriate levels.  To get an idea of our program placements, please use the following program descirptors to understand the placement of your swimmer. Coaches will further group the swimmers once they arrive to the pool. If you are unsure which program will best suit your swimmer after reviewing this material, feel free to contact Head Coach Mike Tuntland.

FALL/WINTER PROGRAM FEES & TIMES

Renewal swimmers, pay the same rate.  Sibling discounts will be applied at the time of registration. 

Junior Racers - Section A
Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday - 6:00-7:00pm
Fee: $130/12 weeks

Junior Racers - Section B
Mon., Wed., Thu,. 6:00-7:30pm;  Select Saturdays. 10:30a-12:30pm   
Fee: $195/12 weeks

Senior Racers
Monday-Thursday  6:30-8:30pm
Select Fridays 5pm-7pm, Select Saturdays: 10:30a-12:30pm
Fee: $260/12 weeks

Junior Varsity & Varsity
Monday - Thursday     6:30pm-8:30pm
Select Fridays    5-7pm        Select Saturdays    10:30a-12:30pm
Fee: $345/12 weeks

FIRST TIME MEMBER INFORMATION
If you are a first-time member to the Des Plaines River Racers, welcome!  We hope to make your first-time experineces with our team the very best.

If you have never swum on a competitive swim team before, we will take the time to evaluate swimmers using our new Skills Based Evaluation checklist. If you are coming to us from another team, we will still take you through the Skills Based Evaluation Checklist.  This will give us a good inventory of skills.  After the checklist is complete, we will place you into the appropriate level to train.

Please note that our groupings are skills based and not necessarily based on age.  We do take into account age of the athlete, but we want to make sure the athlete is placed in the proper place to learn the proper skills and technique. 

If you are transferring from another USA Swimming team, Illinois Swimming policies require that you must complete the mandatory Transfer form and pay Illinois Swimming a transfer fee of $10.  Please see the Illinois Swimming website for details.    Once the transfer form is complete, the swimmer must wait 120 days before competing with the team.  They may attend meets, but will swim as an "un-attached" athlete.   

RETURNING MEMBERS
All returning members may sign up for the level in which they participated in last.  If they wish to change levels, they must participate in an Evaluation Session.   

Athletes may begin the season at their present level and request an evaluation after the first-week of practice.  

HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES
High School swimmers should contact Coach Mike for more details on registration due to IHSA schedules.

High School athletes are permitted to swim for River Racers so long as they are not "in-season" with their high school.  In-Season is defined as being between a practice attendance day and a culminating meet for the athlete.  

In other words, if your last meet is Conference, then you can swim for River Racers the day AFTER Conference.
